On August 8, 2023, a grand groundbreaking ceremony was held at the designated construction site, attended by notable figures such as U.S. Secretary of Energy, Jennifer M. Granholm, Missouri Governor Mike Parson, and key representatives from ICL.

This endeavor isn’t just about building a state-of-the-art facility; it’s about bridging the future of energy, particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) and clean-energy sectors.

The facility which is over 140,000 square feet, is expected to be fully operational by 2025. With an impressive production capacity of 30,000 metric tons of LFP annually, it will cement ICL’s position at the forefront of the global battery materials business. Strategically situated on ICL’s existing Carondelet campus in St. Louis, the plant aims to uplift the surrounding community, recognized as disadvantaged under the Justice40 Initiative.

The surge in demand for this capacity has been overwhelming. “We’re proud to have ICL Group in Missouri and even prouder to be able to break ground on this first-of-its-kind facility in our nation right here in St. Louis”
